The much-anticipated debut for Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith with the Toronto Maple Leafs could be taking place this week.

Jonas Siegel, a national hockey writer for the Canadian Press, tweeted about the possibility this afternoon:

Griffith has been a healthy scratch for the Leafs ever since they acquired him from the Boston Bruins just before the start of the season in a waiver wire deal.

“It’s been a long week, it has been pretty crazy adjusting to the blue instead of the black and gold, but I like it a lot,” Griffith told Paul Hendrick of Leafs TV last week, see the full interview here.

Head coach Mike Babcock told reporters they are not rushing things Griffith.

“We’re trying to give him an opportunity when the opportunity warrants itself,” Babcock said.

“We’re in no rush. He’s another guy who has to get up to speed. Boston does a lot of the same things we do, so that won’t be an issue for him. The guys thought he is a player who would be able to help us, so eventually we’ll have to find a way to get him in.”

In his career, Griffith has played in 34 NHL games, all with Boston, racking up six goals and five assists for 11 points.

Toronto (1-2-3) will host the Florida Panthers on Thursday night at the ACC.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
