The Tartans spirit was alive and well on Wednesday night in Essex.
In front of a strong contingent of enthusiastic Tartans fans who travelled to the game by bus, the Wallaceburg Tartans captured the SWOSSAA ‘AA’ senior girls basketball crown on Wednesday night.
In a close game, the Tartans beat the Essex Red Raiders 29-26 in the final game held on Wednesday night at Essex District High School.
Keahna Riley was tops on the WDSS score sheet with 16 points.
With the win, the Tartans qualified for the OFSAA ‘AA’ championships for the second straight year.
The tournament will be held from November 24 to November 26 in Belle River.
Wallaceburg finished in 4th place last year.
