Resident Attraction and Retention, of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, is pleased to host the ‘baCK to Chatham-Kent’ Home for the Holidays initiative again this year, starting with a flag raising with Mayor Hope on Thursday, December 1, at 10 a.m. in front of the Civic Centre in Chatham.

The initiative, which launched in December 2013, aims to celebrate people who have chosen to come baCK to Chatham-Kent and to encourage others to do so.

Victoria Bodnar, Coordinator of Resident Attraction and Retention, said that “by showcasing the many stories of people who come baCK to Chatham-Kent, baCK aims to encourage those originally from the area to consider returning.”

Activities associated with baCK include:

1. Flag raising with Mayor Hope at the Civic Centre, 315 King Street West, Chatham

2. Young Professional Entrepreneurial Showcase Business After Hours with the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce and Chatham-Kent Workforce Planning Board on Wednesday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on December 21, at Club Lentinas

3. Home for the Holidays “Memories on Ice” sponsored skate at W.K. Erickson Arena on December 23, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

4. Web content on the Municipal Web Portal – www.chatham-kent.ca/baCK – featuring short bios of people explaining why they have come baCK

5. Promotion via Facebook, Twitter and advertising (movie theatre)

“The initiative showcases that it is possible to leave Chatham-Kent and to come back in the future for a variety of reasons and opportunities”, said Bodnar, “It promotes the many great things that Chatham-Kent has to offer, from employment to recreational activities.”

Resident Attraction and Retention thanks all of the individuals and organizations who have participated in this campaign since its launch.
