Thrashers looking for new executive

Wallaceburg’s senior lacrosse team is in danger of folding, as the current executive is stepping down.

The Thrashers said on their website that team president, Steve Lilley, as well as some of the executive are walking away due to other commitments.

“We are looking for a team of people to continue on the Thrashers for next season and beyond,” the team stated.

“If we cannot find anyone interested, we are going to have to unfortunately fold the franchise.”

The team is looking for a new president and executive to run the 2017 team.

If you are interested in helping in any way, contact Lilley at slilley@wallaceburglacrosse.com or on his cell at 519-359-5754.

The Thrashers were formed back in the fall of 2014, when the former Sarnia Beavers squad announced they were moving to Wallaceburg.

In two senior ‘B’ seasons in Wallaceburg, the Thrashers went 2-14 in 2015 and 0-16 in 2016.

Seth suits up

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith suited up for the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Griffith recorded two shots on goal and four hits in 11:27 minutes of ice time.

In nine games this season, Griffith has recorded one assist.

The Panthers will be close to home on Thursday as they battle the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.
