The Municipality is looking for some feedback, as the end of the trail period approaches for the off-road vehicle by-law in Chatham-Kent.

Municipal officials say on March 7, 2016 the Municipality of Chatham-Kent passed a one year trial by-law that permits the use of off-road vehicles on highways located within Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent Off-road Vehicle By-Law #21-2016 permits specified off-road vehicles (ORVs) including all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), to operate from one half hour after sunrise to one half hour before sunset on all highways in Chatham-Kent except for:

– Provincial Highways (King’s Highway 40 and King’s Highway 401)

– All Highways located within the Community of Chatham

– Highways listed in By-Law #21-2016 Schedule A (visit www.chatham-kent.ca for more details)

This trial Off-road Vehicle By-law expires on March 7, 2017.

Prior to the expiry date, the by-law will be reviewed and amended based on observations and feedback received during the trial period.

Chatham-Kent is asking folks to take the time to learn more about the Off-road Vehicle By-law and complete a survey by visiting the following link:

The last day to take the survey is December 31, 2016.
