For the second time this season, Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith has been claimed off of waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

However, this time the 24-year-old forward is going to report directly to Toronto’s AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

It has been a roller coaster season so far for Griffith.

He started the pre-season as a member of the Boston Bruins, and was placed on waivers on October 11. He was quickly snatched up by the Maple Leafs, but after only skating in three games, he was placed on waivers on November 12.

The Florida Panthers scooped Griffith up next and provided the former London Knights star with an opportunity. After skating in 21 games, some on Florida’s top line, Griffith recorded 5 assists and had a +6 rating.

He also missed four games with a concussion earlier this month.

The Panthers placed Griffith on waivers on Thursday, after being a healthy scratch for a handful of games.

During the 2015-16 season Griffith recorded 77 points (24-53-77) in 57 games with the Providence Bruins of the AHL.

His 77 points ranked him second in AHL scoring, while his 53 assists ranked him first in the league.

The 5-foot-9, 191-pound froward was originally selected by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round (131st overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Watch for more on this story.

  1. This guy deserves a fair chance! I hope the Leafs can see his potential and call him up to the parent club soon! Those were not fluke years with the Knights or with Providence.
