Durston nets ‘amazing’ goal for Stealth

Wallaceburg’s Jordan Durston netted a hat-trick for the Vancouver Stealth on Saturday, in a 21-15 loss to the Buffalo Bandits.

Among his three goals was a diving, highlight reel finish for the second-year pro.

“Coach Milligan drew up that play for me,” Durston told stealthlax.com.

“I have never tried that play before the shoot around this morning. Coach has been on me for more production and the goalie was giving me a little bit of room on his right side, so I went for it and got a little lucky.”

In total, Durston cored 3 goals and added 1 assist in the loss.

So far on the year, Durston has tallied 4 goals and 7 assists for 11 points in 4 games.

The Stealth are now 2-2 on the year, a half game back of Calgary for first in the NLL West Division.

Wallaceburg’s Tye Belanger picked up the loss for Vancouver, allowing 13 goals on 44 shots in 42:43 minutes.

The Stealth visit the Saskachewan Rish on Friday, before hosting the Georgia Swarm on Saturday.

Herreweyers scores first NLL goal

Wallaceburg’s Zach Herreweyers picked up his first career NLL goal on Saturday for the Colorado Mammoth, who fell to Calgary 14-12.

Herreweyers now has 1 goal and 2 assists in two games this season.

The Mammoth are now 2-2 on the year, and are tied with Vancouver for second in the NLL West Division.

Griffith picks up assist

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith picked up an assist in his second straight game with the Toronto Marlies on Sunday afternoon.

Playing against a handful of his former Florida Panthers teammates on the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds, Griffith and the Marlies won the game 2-1.

Griffith assisted on a Byron Froese powerplay goal in the second period, which proved to be the game winner.

Toronto will be in the road in Richester on Wednesday, before back-to-back games in St. John’s on Friday and Saturday, before heading into the All-Star break.

Dresden Kings win twice

The Dresden Kings won a pair of games over the weekend, which catapulted them into 5th place in the Stobbs Division.

On Friday, Dresden topped the Blenheimn Blades 4-0.

Joel Sowinski picked up the shutout win by making 33 saves.

Ryan Malott scored a pair of goals for the Kings, while Brendan Ritchie and Eric Carter also scored.

On Sunday, Dresden won a close contest against Mooretown 6-5.

Dillon Liberty scored 4 goals and added an assist for the Kings.

Liberty now has 41 goals and 31 assists for 75 points on the season, placing him second in the league in total points.

Kevin Ritzer also scored, while Malott scored the winner.

Mooretown’s Greg Hay of Port Lambton scored a hat-trick for the Flags in a losing effort.

The Kings will wrap up the regular season this week, when they travel Blenheim on Thursday and when they host Wallaceburg on Friday night.
