The Dresden Kings drew first blood in their best-of-seven opening round series against the Blenheim Blades on Thursday night, winning 3-0.

Eric Carter opened the scoring for Dresden in the first period, an unassisted marker at the 10:22 mark.

Carter’s goal would prove to be the winner, although the Kings would get goals from Brendan Ritchie and Macks Holmes in the second and third periods.

Joel Sowinski was on fire between the pipes, stopping all 27 shots he faced.

It was a packed house at Blenheim Memorial Arena for the game as 655 people filled the stands.

The Kings will hope to do the same in their barn on Monday, February 6, in Dresden for Game 2.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
