Free Throw Champions crowned

The Knights of Columbus held their annual Free Throw Championship in Wallaceburg last month.

The event was held at Christ the King Catholic School on Wednesday, January 25

Here are the boys and girls who qualified for the next round:

– Age 9: Girls – Makaiyan Stonefish, Boys – Colin Reume

– Age 10: Girls – Cassandra Derpech, Boys – Ryan Bowen

– Age 11: Girls – Alyia Vanderdool, Boys – Ashton Vink

– Age 12: Girls – Victoria Byrne, Boys – Keegan Huber

– Age 13: Girls – Kayla Nogueira, Boys – Adrian Zanovliet

Four helpers for Brodie

Dresden’s T.J. Brodie recorded 4 assists in the Calgary Flames 4-3 OT win in New Jersey on Friday.

Brodie became only the third player in franchise history to record a helper on each of the team’s four goals.

So far on the season, Brodie has 3 goals and 19 assists for 22 points.

Seth picks up more points for Marlies

The Toronto Marlies split a pair of weekend games at home to the Syracuse Crunch, and Wallaceurg’s Seth Griffith had a hand in many of the team’s goals.

Griffith had 2 assists on Saturday night in a 5-3 loss.

He chipped in 1 assist in a 3-2 win on Sunday.

In seven games so far with the Marlies the 24-year-old forward has 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points.

Game #2 tonight for Kings

The Dresden Kings will be at home on Monday night in Game #2 of their best-of-seven opening round series against the Blenheim Blades.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

Dresden took the first game of the series by a score of 3-0 last week.
