A group of Knights of Columbus members and local residents are heading to El Salvador to build some houses.
A pasta dinner was held on Saturday, February 5 at the the Port Lambton Sacred Heart Church. Following the dinner, Father Chris Gillespie showed a slide presentation on his trip to build houses in El Salvador last year for Homes For Hope.
Father Gillespie, along with with a team of 14 people, will be heading back to El Salvador to build 10 houses for the people there from March 8 to 18.
Each house costs approximately $1,900 to build.
In order to raise some funds for the cause, a birdhouse was auctioned off at the dinner by the K of C.
Father Gillespie finished building the birdhouse, then proceeded to auction it off to the highest bidder.
The winning bid went to Colleen and Rosemary Clancy for $115.
K of C officials wanted to thank Dan Gimpel for supplying the pasta dinner.
There were over 75 people in attendance.
The dinner raised $1,064, almost enough to build one of the 10 houses in El Salvador.
