‘Couch to 5k’

The Defiance Running Club is offering a ‘Couch to 5k’ program beginning on May.

Mark Childs, the president of the group, said he suggests joining the club in April to get your legs walking or jogging a bit before the program begins.

He says the Couch to 5k is a gentle approach to running/jogging but it requires some dedication.

Childs says if you stick with their program, he guarantees you will complete your first 5k event.

Check out their website for more information: defiancerunningclub.ca.

Friend Speed Dating

Are you in your 20s and 30s and looking to make new friends? CKPL wants to help you out! Visit the Chatham Branch on Thursday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m. and participate in their first ever Friend Speed Dating event.

This low-key gathering will be a fun way to mingle with other 20 and 30 year old locals. Find a new foodie friend or movie buddy. Then stick around after matching to play board games with your new found friends. Feel free to come alone or in a group. Snacks will be provided.

Everyone who attends the event will get to chat with everyone else for two minutes in a traditional speed dating format. Icebreaker questions will be provided. If you like your friend “date”, plan another hang out! If you don’t, move on to someone new! If you hate everyone, don’t worry, we’ve got some nice books you can console yourself with.

Registration is required and seating is limited. To register for the workshop, visit search.ckpl.ca and search Friend Speed Dating or call your local branch. To find out more about upcoming adult programs at Chatham-Kent Public Library, visit www.ckpl.ca.

Notice: Blenheim Bulk Water Station

The Blenheim Elevated Water Storage Tank, constructed in 1999, will undergo a number of improvements and miscellaneous upgrades starting on February 21st, 2017. After almost 20 years, the interior and exterior coating systems (paint) are demonstrating a need for re-coating.

During the construction, the existing Blenheim Bulk Water will be decommissioned and permanently relocated to the existing Public Works Garage at 386 Chatham Street South, Blenheim.

The Blenheim Bulk Water Station will be out of service between February 13 and February 17, 2017. The PUC apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
