Blown tire leads to crash on the 401

A blown tire is to blame for a crash on the 401 in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent OPP officials say on February 17, around 1:45 p.m. officers responded to a commercial motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Merlin Road.

Investigation indicated that a westbound commercial motor vehicle had a front tire blow out causing it collide with the metal guard rail and come to rest in the north side ditch.

The male driver of the transport truck was not injured and there were no charges laid.

Highway 401 westbound was closed for approximately 90 minutes to allow for the vehicle to be removed from the ditch.
