Everitt, Robert (Bob) passed away peacefully at his home in Dresden, Ontario in his 82nd year. Born in Chatham on July 3rd 1935, Bob was the youngest son of the late William (Polly) and Birdie Everitt. Loving husband of Barb Everitt (Wilmott). Proud and loving father of Jane Everitt-Walker (Mark), Carole Clements (Larry), Julie Shaw (Dan), Wendy Davis and Linda Webster (John).
Bob was a cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was predeceased by siblings Edna McGaffey (Harry), Betty Apthorp (Edgar) and Bill Everitt (Mary).
Bob enjoyed organized sports throughout his lifetime. Whether refereeing hockey, playing baseball, coaching, managing, or watching from the sidelines, Bob fully embraced his love of sports and the camaraderie and friendship that it brought to his life. He was especially proud to be inducted into the Chatham Kent Sports Hall of fame in September 2016.
Bob was an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer in his community of Dresden for over 40 years.
His presence and helping hand will be particularly missed at the annual Legion Fishing Derby and Christmas Basket Program. Bob was honoured to be a recipient of the prestigious Rotary International, Paul Harris Fellow Award in 2010, acknowledging his many contributions to his community.
Bob will be remembered for his great love of family, friends and community, his passion for sports, his sense of humour, his kind heart and friendly spirit.
A memorial service will take place to celebrate Bob’s life at the Badder Funeral Home, 679 North St., Dresden on Friday, March 3rd, 2017 at 1:30pm.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation prior to the service between 11:30am and 1:30pm. Interment will take place at the Dresden Cemetery, followed by a gathering for friends and family at the Dresden Legion.
