Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad is once again representing Team Ontario in the pool.

The 16-year-old Chatham Y Pool Sharks swimmer, along with her 14-year-old teammate Genevieve Sasseville, are training with the provincial squad on a 10-day trip in Florida.

The pair will both compete in an Arena Pro Swim Series meet being held from March 2 to March 4 in Indianapolis.

“Both girls have worked so hard to get to this point in their athletic careers and we are very proud of them,” stated Kyle Pinsonneault, the Pool Sharks head coach.

“The training and competition experience will be well worth it for them, and something they won’t soon forget.”

Broad has represented Team Ontario on multiple occasions at previous meets.

She was also recently named as one of six bursary recipients from the Victor Davis Memorial Fund to help them continue pursuing their goals.

The bursary is for $1,500.

Swim Canada officials say the fund was established in memory of Victor Davis, who had a short but remarkable swimming career for Canada.

Each year, Canadian swimmers are selected to receive an award from the Victor Davis Memorial Fund that recognizes his impact on swimming in Canada.

The fund has awarded bursaries totaling $161,500 to help offset training costs for 134 athletes, many of whom have gone on to represent Canada at Olympics and other international events.
