Are you looking to overcome some cognitive, emotional or physical challenges?

Well, Brainwave Optimization might be the solution for you.

Kris Young, owner of NeuroTune, offers the specialized technology and service right here in Chatham-Kent.

The Sydenham Current sat down with Kris to learn more about NeuroTune.

When did you start this business?

“I started it in 2015 actually,” Kris said.

“In 2014 I was experiencing some problems myself with being stuck in a really fatigued almost depressed like state. I found out about this technology that was being offered in Michigan and I went over to do some sessions. I learned that my brain was stuck in a place that was not balanced.”

“In the sessions, sensors are placed on the head. They are “read-only” sensors that receive brain wave activity, and then the software translates that activity into audio tones. The audio tones come back to the ears within four milliseconds, so you are listening to your brainwave activity live or in real time.”

“This process promotes the brain to relax and it is then able to release stuck activity. It is basically like mirroring the brain to itself. The brain is able to recognize its own imperfections once relaxed and corrects imbalances itself. It works because our brains have something called neuroplasticity. This is the natural ability of the brain to change itself to more positive or optimal functioning. Brainwave Optimization promotes this natural ability that is already there. Sometimes we need help in attaining that better functioning because our brain has become stuck due to stress or trauma.”

How does someone book a session with you?

Kris said to call or message the office to setup an appointment.

The process begins with a 90-minute evaluation.

“The client would come in, and we read their brain wave activity with the sensors. They are read-only, I always stress the read-only part of the sensors. We are not putting anything into the brain. The information we gather will reveal any imbalances in activity that may be present” he said.

“We have seven different placements during that evaluation and can see the results immediately after . The client can see if there are any imbalances or disharmony from the graphs I show them. We are not diagnosing any conditions, we are merely showing where imbalances are present due to excessive activity.”

“The client can then decide whether or not they want to go ahead and schedule some sessions. I offer a money back guarantee on the first four sessions in the office based on the data. If we don’t see any positive movement in the data during those sessions, the client doesn’t owe me anything.”

He said positive results in the data generally translate into positive results in their life too.

“Clients often experience better sleep, improved emotional well-being, feeling more calm, release from stress and trauma, and so much more. People struggling with post head injury and post trauma issues report feeling better after Brainwave Optimization also. It is safe, non-invasive, and the technology has been around for over a decade. It has helped over 100,000 people worldwide.”, Kris says

Where did the technology come from?

“Brain State Technologies is the actually company that owns the technology,” Kris said.

“NeuroTune is my own business name. Lee Gerdes invented the technology out of his own need after he suffered a head injury and trauma.”

There is also a head band clients can purchase?

“There is a wearable unit now called the BRAINtellect 2. It is the same technology we use in the office but the client purchases it for use at home. This can be used by up to five users in the home which is a bonus.”, he explains.

“A lot of my clients will do sessions here and then say they want the headband to have at home. Clients can do sessions in office only, or just the headband only, or a combination of both depending on individual needs.”

Is there insurance coverage for this treatment?

Kris said people that have been in motor vehicle accidents have been covered in the past, but it is not something that is generally covered by employer benefits. However it never hurts to ask an employer to help cover the cost of something that helps with sleep and better performance overall.

What is the cost?

“An evaluation is $75 including HST and session costs vary based on the client’s needs,” Kris said.

There are also special rates for first responders.

“They are more susceptible to post traumatic stress. The evaluation for them is free.”

Does it help with memory?

“I had a client and he found it very helpful with long term memory. As we were doing a session, he would tell me ‘oh I just remembered something that I hadn’t remembered in 30 years’. They were good memories, it was unlocking something for him to be able to remember things ,” Kris said.

“Many clients also experience improvement with short term memory, focus, mental clarity, racing thoughts, and even learning. It is safe and can be beneficial for all ages.”, he adds.
