Bessie Sturgis of Wallaceburg

Bessie-Sturgis-1488817163Bessie Irene Sturgis (Beggs), a resident of Wallaceburg, formerly of Dresden, passed away peacefully at Fairfield Park on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the age of 91.

Bessie is the daughter of the late Robert & Maggie (Grant) Beggs. Predeceased by her beloved husband Hugh Gerald Sturgis in 1995. Loving mother of Linda DeBurger (Tom) of Chatham and Brenda Gardiner (Bill) of Thamesville and Stephen Sturgis (Karen) of Fort McMurray. Dear grandmother of James Gardiner, Nicole Robert (Ken), Kerry Ball (Scott), Kirk Gardiner (Judi), Kevin DeBurger, Christopher DeBurger (Vanesa), J’Nan Sturgis, Carolyn Harris (Anthony) and great grandmother to Brittany DeBurger, Evan Robert, Reed Robert, Mason Gardiner, Hayden Harris and Emerson Ball. Sister of Jack Beggs (Velda) and the late Alice Deyo (Jack), Gretta Wadsworth (Walter). She will be missed by her many nieces & nephews.

Bessie was a faithful employee of Bell Canada for over 25 years, a member of the Bell Pioneers and the Dresden Community Church.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday. The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thursday, March 9 at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Blackburn Cemetery.
