Feud continues between Wesley and Water Wells First

Jeff Wesley won’t be sitting down for dinner with Water Wells First tonight (Mar. 7), and the Wallaceburg Councillor won’t be in attendance for the groups public meeting scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Country View Golf Club.

Wesley was presented with a ‘Shame Award’ recently by the group, for “misleading the public.”

After responding to the allegations, Wesley countered by hiring a lawyer, and threatening legal action.

On Monday, Wesley said demands laid out by himself, and by his lawyer, have not been met by Kevin Jakubec, the spokesperson for Water Wells First.

“I have indicated to you what is required and you have not met the basics of either the apology or the conditions,” Wesley wrote in an email addressed to Jakubec, and copied to the Sydenham Current and other local media outlets.

“This is unfortunate.”

Wesley said last week he wanted to see a poll about him taken down on the Water Wells First website, all “offending materials” deleted from their website and Facebook page, confirmation of the ‘Shame Award’ retraction, assurance of no more ‘Shame Awards’ and the results of this shared in a positive and public manner.

Subsequently over the weekend, the posts about Wesley on the Water Wells First website and Facebook were removed, along with the poll about the Wallaceburg Councillor.

In an e-mail sent to Wesley on Monday, Jakubec said his apology has been reported in the press and on the radio.

“I did not mean to hurt you or your family,” Jakubec wrote.

The ‘Shame Award’ retraction or the possibility of future ‘Shame Awards’ from the group is still up in the air.

Jakubec says he plans on making a statement at Tuesday’s meeting.

Also, he says Water Wells First is planning to hold two “groundbreaking ceremonies”, one in the Otter Creek area and another in Dover, starting at around 12 p.m. on Thursday.

  1. Are you kidding? It’s just people talking. Mr. Wesley, I like you and am not involved in the water issues at all, but you seriously need to walk away from this and just let it go. Like I tell my kids, don’t be a crybaby.

  2. Mr WESLEY has never appreciated water. Ask him about the original water line from Sarnia to Dresden back in the 90’s.
