Mrs. Maria Van Hooren, nee Scharmin, of Wallaceburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, in Chatham, at the age of 94.
Maria was born in Belgium and was a daughter of the late David and Adriane (Hoste) Scharmin.
Beloved wife of the late Achille Van Hooren (2008).
Loving mother and mother-in-law of Godelieve “Goldie”(the late Roland) Doom of Dresden.
Sadly missed by her grandchildren: Ron Doom of Dresden, Randy (Kim) Doom of Wallaceburg, Rick (Kim) Doom, Ryan (Susan) Doom of Dresden and her great grandchildren: Brandon, Breean, Tabithia, Tony, Billie and Peyton.
Kind sister of Alice Scharmin and Hilbert (Doris) Scharmin.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-laws in Belgium.
Predeceased by her siblings Desiere, Godelieve and Leonard.
Friends and family will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg, on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. from Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Wallaceburg.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg.
