Robbery in Port Lambton, suspect arrested

A Walpole Island man faces robbery charges after an incident in Port Lambton.

Lambton OPP officials say on Thursday March 23 just before 6:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to a commercial address in the 4300 block of St. Clair Parkway, St. Clair Township in relation to a reported robbery.

OPP were informed that three unknown intoxicated males entered the business and upon being refused service, one of the males removed merchandise from the business and attempted to leave.

This male was confronted by an employee and another patron in the business at which time the male became violent.

No injuries were sustained to the employee or the patron as a result.

All three males then fled the business on foot, with the stolen property.

A short time later, OPP was able to locate the lone male suspect walking along a rail road track in the area.

The male party, upon observing police, attempted to flee on foot but after a short foot pursuit was arrested without any injury to the suspect or police.

As a result, a 28-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with robbery and three counts of fail to comply with recognizance.

The accused will was for a bail hearing at the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Friday March 24.
