Spring Vendor’s Sale at the Museum

The annual event will take place at the Wallaceburg and District Museum on March 25 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. upstairs in the Jeanne Gordon Theatre.

There will be numerous vendors, a bake sale, a 50/50 draw and different raffles. All money raised from the event supports new projects at The Museum like the new Parlor and organization (police and fire) display room.

Wallaceburg Christian School dinner in Dresden

Wallaceburg Christian School’s Broasted Chicken Dinner will be held in the Dresden Arena banquet hall on Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will also be a silent auction during dinner and a LIVE auction at 7 p.m. For tickets or questions, call the office at 519-627-6013 or email admin@wallaceburgchristianschool.com. Tickets at the door can be purchased pending availability and there are still some advance tickets available. Cost is Youth/Adults: $20, Children (6-12): $10, 5 and under: Free.

French language resources available at Chatham-Kent Public Library

French language books, movies, ebooks and more are available at CKPL. Every branch has a selection of materials and you can also place holds to have French materials delivered to any branch. CKPL carries many French language learning resources in multiple formats as well, including Launchpads, Playaways and books on CD.

For children, CKPL also offers French Bags of Books. Based on the theme of your choice, the Bag of Books will contain 25 children’s books including board books, picture books, early readers, and easy non-fiction. French language materials are also available in Storykits, which contain a selection of books for children ages 0 to 6 years, puppets, rhythm instruments, CDs, DVDs, Playaway Views, storytelling props, and concept toys and puzzles. Great for teachers, homeschoolers, daycares, and parents.

CKPL’s digital collections include French language resources too. Tumble Biblio Enfants is an online collection of animated talking picture books that teach children the joy of reading in a format they will love. The Archambault MaBiblioNumérique ebook collection has a wide variety of electronic titles for all ages, highlighting Quebec authors as well as French translations of English works.

Flipster offers digitial magazines that can be read online using a web browser or downloaded to your mobile device to read offline, anytime, anywhere. CKPL subscribes to the French edition of Châtelaine.

The Santé en francais (Consumer Health Information) online database contains French language articles about common medical conditions and procedures in an easy to understand manner.
