The first round of preliminaries wrapped up on Sunday afternoon at The CBD Club in Wallaceburg for the Basso’s No Frills Junior Star Search.
Five contestants will be going onto the final round, which will be held on April 9.
Alexis Hockridge, Shelby Olmstead, Keira Shepherd, Miria Pelletier and Jordan Banman all sang their hearts out and will move on to the finals.
They covered hits from Sarah McLachlan, Leonard Cohen, Miranda Lambert and Craig Morgan.
The fun will continue on Sunday, April 2 starting at 2 p.m. for the second and final qualifying round.
There are two categories: 11 to 14 and 15-18.
Cash prizes will be given away to the top three singers in each category thanks to sponsors: Basso’s No Frills, The Glass Guru, The CBD Club and CKXS.
Even if you are not a singer, it is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon watching great talent.
There is no cost to watch and support the youth, many from the local community and others from out-of-town.
