Pataki shines at CFL combine

Wallaceburg’s Jonah Pataki had an excellent showing last week at the CFL national combine.

The Queen’s University running back finished in the top five in two categories at the event, which finished up on Saturday.

Pataki tied for second in the vertical jump with a leap of 36.5 inches.

He also placed fourth in the broad jump with 10 feet 3.5 inches.

Pataki also participated in the in the 40-yard dash, finishing with a time of 4.808 seconds, bench press, 12 reps of 225 pounds, shuttle run, with a time of 4.23 seconds and the three-cone drill in a time of 7.30 seconds.

Pataki also had the opportunity to be interviewed by numerous CFL teams and compete on one-on-one drills.

A total of 50 players participated in the combine.

Pataki had a career-year for the Golden Gaels this past season.

He finished in fourth place in the OUA with 814 rushing yards in eight games.

He tied for fourth with seven rushing touchdowns and was fifth with 101.8 yards per game.

These numbers led to Pataki being named the Queen’s Offensive Player of the Year and their MVP.

Pataki was also named the 2016 Athlete of the Year by the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame.

Pataki is eligible for the CFL draft this year.

The draft will take place on May 7.
