A Wallaceburg man faces break-and-enter charges after an incident in Chatham on Monday.

Chatham-Kent police officials say in August 2016, a man was arrested and charged for domestic-related offences against his girlfriend at the time. One of the conditions of his release was not to attend within 250 meters of her residence which is now in Chatham.

Yesterday just after 6:00 p.m. while she was walking her dog just across the street from her house, she observed the man on her property.

The man did not see her and entered her house through an unlocked door.

She stayed outside and called the police.

The 40-year-old Wallaceburg man was located and arrested by police.

He was charged with break and enter and failing to comply.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for bail.
