A Wallaceburg family is hoping for a stolen cell phone to be returned, as some priceless memories and photos are stored on the missing device.

Debbie Foulon told the Sydenham Current her husband Remi, who owns Foulon Construction Ltd., had his truck ransacked this morning.

“Remi was at our storage shed early this morning shortly after 7 a.m. loading up a few things for the work day,” she said. “He left the door open to the shed. Saw a white van pull in. The cab company is in the same building off of Wallace St.”

She said the theft happened very quickly.

“Remi was in the shed for only a few minutes, so he hadn’t locked the truck,” she said.

“No one was around. When he got back in the truck, it was totally ransacked and his wallet and cellphone were gone. He can replace everything. He wasn’t hurt. The only thing he can’t replace is Jeremy’s last phone conversation with his dad the day before he passed away, the numerous text messages and pictures they shared between them.”

Debbie said their son Jeremy Foulon died a year ago this week, on April 4.

“He doesn’t know what the iCloud is,” she said. “So I don’t know if he can retrieve anything.”

“All I request is that if someone finds the phone, that they return it,” she said, adding the phone did have a password on it.

There was only $20 in cash in his wallet, Debbie said.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service were called and are investigating as well.

“Police were here and they said they had other calls this morning about a white van,” Debbie said.

“They actually left a bag beside Remi’s truck. It looks like it was probably taken from someone else’s vehicle. Had some video games and CD’s in it. Hopefully the police can return them to the rightful owner.”

Debbie and Remi are also the grandparents of Hayden Foulon, who recently underwent a stem cell transplant, after battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. For Hayden’s recent 5th birthday, the community stepped up for her gathering over 1,600 cards and gifts.

“Hayden is slowly improving after a few setbacks, so that’s good thing,” Debbie said. “Baby steps, day-by-day.”
