Citizen complaint leads police to impaired driver

With the help of a local citizen, the Lambton OPP were able to arrest an alleged impaired driver.

OPP officials say on Thursday April 27 just before 1 a.m., members the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver in the 4500 block of London Line in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.

Acting on information received, OPP attended the area and located the suspect vehicle.

Police officials say OPP made contact with the adult female driver and during this contact, formed the opinion that the driver was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for breath testing which allegedly resulted in readings almost twice the legal limit.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a 54-year old Essex woman, was charged with:

– Driving While Ability Impaired

– Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood

The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday June 5th, 2017.

The OPP is again reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
