Update: Motorcycle crash turns fatal

A motorcycle crash in Chatham early this morning has turned fatal.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say early this morning around 5:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and motorcycle at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Sandys Street in Chatham.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 43-year-old Chatham man, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with life-threatening injuries.

He was transferred to London via Ornge air ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the motor vehicle, a 45-year-old Wallaceburg woman, was not physically injured.

The intersection has re-opened.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank all motorists for their patience and cooperation this morning.

The collision remains under investigation by the Traffic Management Unit.
