Motorcyclist airlifted, Wallaceburg woman involved in serious crash

A motorcyclist has been airlifted and a Wallaceburg woman was involved in a serious crash in Chatham early this morning.

Chatham-Kent Polcie Service officials say early this morning around 5:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and motorcycle at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Sandys Street in Chatham.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle, a 43-year-old Chatham man, was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with life-threatening injuries.

He was transferred to London via Ornge air ambulance.

The driver of the motor vehicle, a 45-year-old Wallaceburg woman, was not physically injured.

The intersection remains closed as police continue their investigation.

Motorists are asked to use an alternate route.

The collision is being investigated by the Traffic Management Unit.
