Levante Living has recently purchased the Wallaceburg Senior Living Residence, formerly known as The Sydenham Residence for Senior Citizens.

With a cumulative 20 years in the senior living sector, including the development, operations and redevelopment of long-term care facilities and adult based residential communities as well as 30 years experience in financial market equity raises and managing public companies, the team at Levante is working to change the landscape of healthcare in Canada.

“At Levante, we recognize that the heartbeat of our company is our residents. In all our homes, we seek to provide our residents with a comfortable lifestyle in a caring environment with opportunities for growth, health and wellness,” CEO Mike Petersen says. “Our aim is to exceed expectations.”

Having studied the senior living market for many years, the Levante team believes now is the time to consolidate retirement and Long Term Care homes across the country.

Other sources seem to agree.

According to Statistics Canada the proportion of seniors aged 65 years or over will continue to increase in the future. This group will represent up to 25% of the population by 2036 and up to 28% by 2061 compared to 14% in 2009.

With the increased need for quality senior housing, Petersen says: “I see a real opportunity to consolidate these independently owned homes and bring in professional management. In doing so, we can streamline and upgrade these homes, improving the quality of care to our residents and providing value to our partners.”

Wallaceburg Residence is a smoke free environment offering assisted living for both active and less active residents in a caring and dignified environment. The residence is designed for seniors who want to continue their independent lifestyle and for those residents that require assistance with their personal care needs. The focus is to provide quality accommodations, 24-hour on-site staff, as well as services and activities based on the needs and desires of their residents. Different suites are available at varying rates, from bedsitting, to one bedroom and the larger couple suites, all with ensuite bathrooms.

“Wallaceburg was a very well run home and we want to build on that. There will be some changes. We intend to improve the quality of the food. You will see more selection on the menu as well,” Petersen said. “We also intend to broaden the scope of the activities offered and will take a look at the quality of nursing care within the home.”

Levante currently partners with Universal Care, a company that oversees the management of senior living homes in Canada.

“They bring a level of integrity and commitment to excellence in delivering services to seniors that has continually impressed us,” Petersen notes.

  1. Perhaps the new owners will encourage the neighbors to clean up their dump we look at everytime we visit.
