Wallaceburg Red Devils split pair of road games

After topping the Point Edward Pacers on Friday night at home, the Wallaceburg Red Devils split a pair of road games on Saturday and Sunday in Ontario Junior ‘B’ Lacrosse Association action.

Red Devils 8, Niagara Thunderhawks 7

Fresh off a Sutherland Cup finals appearance with the London Nationals, Kyle Dawson traded his skates in for sneakers to lead the Red Devils on Saturday night in an 8-7 win.

Dawson had 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points in his season debut.

Brock Daugherty, Vern Hill, Brock Redford, Cory Lucier, Carter Hastings and Ryan Noel also scored.

Madisen General and Tanner Cole each has 2 assists.

Noble Jacobs made 45 saves in the win.

Windsor Clippers 13, Red Devils 12

The rivalry continued between the Red Devils and Clippers on Sunday night, with Windsor coming out on top in their second meeting of the season, 13-12.

Cole led the way for Wallaceburg with 3 goals and 2 assists, while Dawson added 3 more goals in the Red Devils’ first loss of the season.

Lucier had 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points and Hill had 1 goals and 4 assists.

Tyler Brown and Evan Mathany each has 2 goals and 1 assist.

Jacobs made 34 saves in the loss.

Wallaceburg (4-1-1) still maintains the top spot in the Far West division with 9 points, while Windsor (3-1-1) gained some ground with their win and sit in second with 7 points.

The Red Devils will be back in action on Wednesday night when they host the Point Edward Pacers once again.

The game gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
