Seth sets up winner

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith set up the game winning goal for the Toronto Marlies on Tuesday night against the Syracuse Crunch.

Griffith set up Carl Grundstrom, who scored at the 18:22 mark of the third period.

The Marlies would add another goal late in a 5-3 win.

The Toronto squad is still trailing in the best-of-seven playoff series, 2-1.

Griffith has 1 goal and 3 assists so far in the series.

They’ll be back in action tonight in Game 4 in Toronto at 7 p.m.

Wallaceburg Minor Hockey looking to start Juvenile team

Wallaceburg Minor Hockey is extending registration for juvenile age players until May 26.

The organization would like to see juvenile hockey back in Wallaceburg.

They need numbers by then to book ice for the team.

4-on-4 basketball tournament in Wallaceburg

There is still time to sign up for the Wallaceburg Shootout 4-on-4 basketball tournament this weekend.

Some WDSS alumni are set to hit the court at the high school for the tournament being held on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13.

Spectators are welcome to attend on Friday night from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The entry fee is $30 per person, with half going to the Wallaceburg Fireworks group and the other half going to the first place team.

Teams will be four players, with one substitute playing half court.

There are 30 players, from high school kids to 40-year-old WDSS alumni, set to play.

They would be looking for 40 players in total, or eight teams.

The teams will be made through a draft this Friday night at 6 p.m.

Lakers BBQ

The Wallaceburg Lakers will be holding a barbecue fundraiser at Rona in Wallaceburg on May 13, 2017.

It will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hamburgerss, hotdogs, french fries and drinks will be for sale.

People will have the opportunity to take a look at their items for their silent auction as well.

There will also be karaoke entertainment, hosted by ‘Shining Light’.

C-K tops WDSS in girls soccer

The Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks topped the Wallaceburg Tartans on Tuesday.

C-K narrowly defeated the Tartans 2-1.

Kaitlyn Isaac scored the lone goal for Wallaceburg.

The Tartans remain in first place in the LKSSAA ‘AA’ division, with a 3-2 record.

Peewee Warriors top Dresden

The Stubby Goat Peewee Warriors OBA team recorded their second win on the season on Monday.

They topped the Dresden Tigers 8-4.
