Mr. Modest Vande Velde, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Sydenham Campus, at the age of 86 years.
He was born in Wallaceburg and was a son of the late Armand and Clementine (Borian) Vande Velde. Beloved husband of Evelyn (Rabideau) Vande Velde. Loving father and father-in-law of Cathy Jeffery, Charlene (Stan) Wynn, Raymond (Barb) Vande Velde, Richard Vande Velde, Michele (Curtis) Scott and Carolyn (Larry) Belanger.
Dear grandfather of Lyn, Chris, Allan, Tyson, Katey, Brian, Chris, Bradley, Joshua, Jen and Kyle. Sadly missed by 8 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Kind brother-in-law of Eleanor Webster and Reg (Sally) Rabideau. Predeceased by a daughter Elizabeth, his brothers Joseph, Peter, August, Raymond, his sisters Matilda, Leona, Palmyra and Theresa.
The late Modest Vande Velde is resting at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Prayers will be offered at 3:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11am from Holy family Church. Interment in Riverview Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Sydenham Auxiliary or the Chatham Kent Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
