$11,000 worth of drugs and guns seized on Moraviantown

Two men face multiple charges after $11,000 worth of drugs and firearms were seized on Moraviantown.

Chatham-Kent OPP officials say on May 30, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime and Enforcement Branch (OCEB) London, assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the OPP K-9 unit, the OPP Provincial Liaison Team (PLT), the Chatham OPP Major Crime Unit and uniformed members of the Chatham OPP detachment and Moravian First Nations Police Service, executed a Criminal Code search warrant on a residence in the area of 14894 River Line, Moravian First Nations, Ontario.

As a result, several non-restricted, restricted and prohibited firearms and weapons were seized.

Also seized were several calibers of ammunition, a quantity of Canadian currency and controlled substances (Cocaine, Fentanyl).

The following two individuals were arrested at the scene and remain in custody pending a bail hearing to face charges as follows:

A 57-year-old man and a 19-year-old man from Moravian First Nations, Ontario have each been charged with:

– Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking

– Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking

– Unsafe storage of a firearm x 25

– Unsafe storage of ammunition

– Unauthorized possession of a Firearm x 25

– Possession of a prohibited weapon x 3

– Possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with access to ammunition x 4

In relation to this investigation the following property was seized:

Firearms and Ammunition:

– 21 non-restricted rifles

– 2 restricted firearms

– 2 prohibited firearms

– 1 prohibited magazine

– 2 prohibited weapons

– Approximately 800 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.

Controlled Substances:

– Approximately 28 fentanyl patches

– Approximately 32 grams of cocaine

The combined estimated street value of the seized firearms and controlled substances is approximately $11,000.
