Red Devils top Pacers

The Wallaceburg Red Devils (9-4-1) completed the season sweep over the Point Edward Pacers (7-8-0) on Sunday, winning their third match-up of the year by a score of 14-6.

Wallaceburg had beaten the Pacers three times already this season by scores of 8-6, 14-9 and 12-5.

Evan Mathany led the way for Wallaceburg on Sunday with a 6-point night, scoring twice and adding 4 assists.

Cory Lucier had 3 goals, Kyle Dawson had 2 goals and 1 assist, Madisen General had 1 goal and 2 assists and Brenda Johnston had 1 goal and 2 assists as well.

Noble Jacobs, Carter Hastings, Bronson Bea and Parker Gilhuly each had 3 assists.

Vern Hill scored twice, while Riley Roe, Tyler Davis and Ryan Noel also scored.

Jacobs made 36 saves in the win.

Wallaceburg will host their division rival Windsor Clippers on Tuesday night.

The Clippers and Red Devils will enter the game with identical 9-4-1 records and first place in the division will be on the line.

The game gets underway at 8 p.m.

Dresden Raceway results for Sunday, June 4

Three different horses remain undefeated at Dresden Raceway after wins in both weeks of racing at the local oval.

14-year-old WESKEY went wire-to-wire for owner/trainer/driver Tyler Borth of Ingersoll for his second win in a row at Dresden. The Wesgate Crown gelding is co-owned by Bill Borth. WESKEY has now banked over $304,000 with the win in 2:04.

EVIL CAM EVIL made it two in a row at Dresden as well with a wire-to- wire win for driver Lorne House in 2:00 flat. The three-year-old Camluck gelding is owned by trainer Dennis Belan, Doug Belan and Brian Fitzgerald and has won six out of 10 lifetime starts.

Owner/trainer/driver Donnie Rankin Jr. of Amherstberg guided GD CRUISE FOR GOLD to his second win in a row at Dresden after setting the fractions of 30.2, 1:01.2, 1:31 and a last quarter of 29 second for a mile of 2:00 flat.

Dresden Raceway opened their doors to the world as they started streaming live on Sunday at www.dresdenraceway.ca with the hopes of linking in with HPI to allow wagering on the local races.

Garrett Rooney scored three wins for a driving triple as he visited the winner’s circle with SLOTS OF FUN, GROUND SHAKER and GRITS N GRAVY.

Sunday’s handle was $20,399 which means the average handle per race has been over $2,100 in 2017.

Next week the local oval will be hosting the Ontario Little Saratoga’s Dresden Cup with a post time 1:30 pm.

Wallaceburg Ladies Fastball top Inwood

The Wallaceburg Ladies Fastball Team won Sunday night against Inwood by a score of 12-6.

Wallaceburg’s record now sits at 3-1 for the season.

Taryn Charbonneau led the offence with a homerun, while Maria Beauchamp smacked a double.

Amy Hull pitched a complete game for Wallaceburg.

Last Thursday, Wallaceburg lost their home opener to the Wyoming Midgets by a score of 11-2.

Hull and Nikki Neely pitched for Wallaceburg.

Their next game is Thursday, June 8 at 8 p.m. at Stieihoff Park against McArm Construction.
