Clara Hopman, a resident of Wallaceburg, died peacefully at Fairfield Park on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the age of 83. Clara is the daughter of the late Klaas & Margaret (Vanderham) Karreman.
Beloved wife of 60 years to Tymen. Loving mother of Tony Hopman (Stephanie), Marlene Smith (Dugal), Suzanne Wiersma (Rick) and Dear grandmother of Trevor, Kyle (Katie) Hopman, Mark (Kate), Nathan (Esther), Laura Wiersma and Nadine, Frasier (Alicia), Lydia, Elliot Smith and great grandmother of 4 great grandchildren. Sister of the late John Karreman, Grace Counsel and Harry Karreman.
Born in Moordrecht, Netherlands, Clara came to Canada in 1951 and worked at Wiersma’s Bakery in Chathamfor many years and then with her husband Tymen at Hopman’s Meat Market in Wallaceburg. Clara was passionate about sending cards with notes and letter writing to friends & relatives.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallaceburg Christian Reformed Church, 150 Bruinsma Avenue in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday. The funeral will be celebrated at the church on Thursday, June 8 at 2 PM. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
