Leslie House formerly of Wallaceburg

A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Wallaceburg, Leslie House passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at his side on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the age of 92.

Born in England, Leslie was the son of the late Fred and Lucy Matilda (Becker) House.

Predeceased by his wife Margaret House (nee Barnes). Beloved husband of 19 years to Hilda Fisher-House (nee Frey).

Survived by the extended family of his step-son Gary Barnes and step-daughters Barb McAllister and Janet Seithel.

Also missed by Hilda’s children, Nancy Hillman (Bob), Virginia Macchiavello, Judy Listhaeghe (Paul) and Susanne Pillon (Rick) and grandchildren Matthew Hillman (Candi), Karen Hillman, Jamie Hillman (Mi-Mi), Geniel Hillman, Carlita O’Neill-Macchiavello (Michael), Esperansita Bejnarowicz (Matthew), Joshua Macchiavello (Charla), Renata Rabideau (Jeremy), Caleb Listhaeghe, Nathan Briffa (Cindy), Tyler Briffa, Samara Briffa and Mackenzie Pillon.

Brother to John and Joan. Predeceased by six siblings.

Also missed by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Leslie served in the British Navy in England and worked on the Rolls Royce aircraft engines for war planes, serving as an Aeronautical Engineer in World War II. He worked in South Africa, The United States and Canada, retiring in Wallaceburg. He was active in several church missions, starting as a young man in Africa. Most recently, with Evangel Community Church, he served in Cuba and Indonesia. He was active locally with the expansion of Loads of Love.

Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. and on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Evangel Community Church, 77 Sandys Street, Chatham from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00 am with Rev. Chris Couper officiating. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg.
