Micro lending program on hold

Special to the Sydenham Current

There has been great interest from the entrepreneurial community with CK’s Micro Lending Program (a program that offers flexible terms and repayment options to entrepreneurs who might not otherwise qualify for traditional lending methods), so great, in fact that the committee (which is made up of community partners including Employment and Social Services, Prosperity Round Table; United Way; Small Business Centre; Chatham Chamber of Commerce; Community Futures Development Corporation; Main Street Credit Union; and the CKWPB) has promised out the entire pot of money out to local entrepreneurs.

Unfortunately, that means, that at this time, the application process will be closed until funds are replenished.

“We’ve seen, first hand, what a difference a micro loan can make in the life of a local entrepreneur! $5,000 can mean the difference between a small business existing or not,” says Kristy Jacobs, Project Manager with the Chatham Kent Workforce Planning Board.

Individuals who are interested in the Micro Lending program are encouraged to watch the ckworkforcedev.com website for up to date information on the status of the program.

CKWPB is committed to ongoing research to enhance local labour market planning in the Chatham-Kent region. To learn more about the Chatham-Kent Workforce Planning Board and its activities in Chatham-Kent, please visit our website at ckworkforcedev.com.
