Public Health Unit: Phone survery for mental health

Special to the Sydenham Current

Chatham-Kent Public Health will be rolling out a phone survey to randomly selected adults (18+) in Chatham-Kent in the coming weeks. The purpose of the survey is to gather information about mental health awareness, attitudes and knowledge of supports and services in Chatham-Kent.

Most people will face mental health challenges at some point in their lives, either personally or through a friend or family member. It is estimated that one in five Canadians will experience a mental health problem or illness this year. Mental health is an important issue and it is critical that communities work towards reducing the stigma that exists around mental illness.

Ipsos Public Affairs will be conducting the survey on behalf of the health unit. Residents are encouraged to take the time to complete this confidential and anonymous survey if they are called. The results will inform programs and services to promote and maintain positive mental health in our communities, where we live, learn, work, and play. This survey is being rolled out concurrently with Lambton County.

Those with questions or concerns about the survey can call Chatham-Kent Public Health at 519-352-7270, or visit www.ckphu.com and view the frequently asked questions posted for this community survey.
