Dresden man charged with impaired driving

A Dresden man faces impaired driving charges after being stopped early Sunday morning.

OPP officials say on June 25, around 1:50 a.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on general patrol on Highway 40 when they observed a grey Chevrolet Impala allegedly committing a traffic violation.

The vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver, the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol.

The driver was transported to the detachment for further tests.

As a result, the male driver, a 33-year-old Dresden man has been charged with drive motor vehicle while ability impaired and drive motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 21, 2017 to answer to the charges.

Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) want to remind the public that as the weather starts getting warmer more traffic will be appearing on our roadways.

The OPP will actively monitor the “Big 4” driving behaviours; impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
