Red Devils even series with Clippers

The Wallaceburg Red Devils took care of their home turf on Saturday in Game #2 of their best-of-five Ontario Junior ‘B’ Lacrosse League playoff series against the Windsor Clippers.

Wallaceburg won 17-11, and the series is now tied at 1-1.

Sidney Powless led the way for Wallaceburg with 6 points, 4 goals and 2 assists.

The late season acquisition was also named the game’s first star.

Kyle Dawson also scored 4 goals, Cory Lucier had 3 goals and 1 assist and Parker Gilhuly scored a hat-trick.

Carter Hastings and Vern Hill each had 1 goal and 4 assists.

Evan Mathany had 1 goal and 3 assists.

Noble Jacobs was solid between the pipes, making 39 saves in the win.

Game #3 is slated for Wednesday in Windsor.

The ball drops at 8 p.m.

– The Red Devils are organizing a party bus to head to Windsor for the game on Wednesday. Anyone interested is being asked to email Jamie Knight at jknight@wallaceburglacrosse.com as soon as possible. Cost is $30 per adult. The bus leaves the Wallaceburg Arena at 6 p.m. and will be returning around at 11:30 p.m. or 12 p.m.

– Game #4 of the series is scheduled to take place in Wallaceburg on Saturday, July 1. The Canada Day tilt will start at 4 p.m.

– Game #5, if necessary, will be held in Windsor the following day, Sunday, July 2, at 5 p.m.

– Carter Hastings is the leading scorer in the playoffs so far for Wallaceburg. He has 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points so far in the two games.
