Seth Griffith signs with Buffalo Sabres

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith has signed a 1-year-contract with the Buffalo Sabres.

The announcement was made on Twitter this afternoon.

Griffith split time between the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maples Leafs organizations last season.

Griffith became an unrestricted free agent, after the Toronto Maple Leafs failed to give the winger a qualifying contract offer.

The NHL’s free agency period began today.

Griffith recorded five assists in 24 NHL games last season with the Florida Panthers and the Maple Leafs.

He also had 44 points in 38 games with the Toronto Marlies, the Leafs’ AHL affiliate.

During parts of three seasons in his NHL career, Griffith has skated in 58 games, recording 16 points, 6 goals and 10 assists.

The 5-foot-9, 191-pound former London Knight was originally selected by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round (131st overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.

More to come.
