Organizers are happy with the outcome of the 2017 Dresden Kinstock Music Festival on July 14 and 15.

Darren Wills, a Dresden Kinsmen member and one of the event organizers, told the Sydenham Current the turnout is what they were expecting.

“The weekend was awesome,” he said.

“We had a great turnout. Everybody was happy with the event. I think we had just over 1,500 people come out. Friday night was a little bit of a quieter night, but that’s what we kind of anticipated. The park was packed on Saturday.”

The all-ages event organized by the Dresden Kinsmen Club featured Sarah Smith, Jessica Mitchell, Mandy Jo Project & The Groove Noodles on Friday and the River Town Saints, Eric Ethridge, Buck Twenty, Dirt Country and Jacklyn Wills & Round House on Saturday.

“All of our artists put on a good show… but Eric (Ethridge), River Down Saints, Buck Twenty, they brought the excitement, that is for sure,” Wills said.

Camping at the event was almost sold-out as well this year.

“There were about 45 total campers there in our immediate area and we only had room for about 50,” he said.

Wills added that plans are already in the works for next year.

“We have a couple little things that we need to do,” he said.

“One thing, we need to do is bring in an ATM machine. It’s one of those things that a lot of times in the past we would call and it would be ‘your festival is not big enough’ or ‘you don’t attract enough people to warrant it’ but I think I have got a connection now at a reasonable price.”

Wills added: “A few minor changes to the programming. A couple little tweaks, but other than that no. The set up was fantastic. The way we organized it, really all the feedback has been positive so everybody loved it. They got their moneys worth and they had a good time.”

Wills said he cannot thank the community sponsors enough.

“All the business in town that support us here with all of our events,” he said.
