‘Busiest’ Gala Days weekend ever in Port Lambton

Organizers are thrilled after a successful Gala Days weekend in Port Lambton.

In fact, it may have been the busiest event they’ve ever had.

“It went really good,” Brittany Johnston, a volunteer committee member for Gala Days, told the Sydenham Current.

“I heard people saying it was the busiest we had ever had. We had volleyball and baseball going all weekend. It was a lot of fun.”

Johnston said Face 4 Radio wrapped up the weekend with musical entertainment.

“They finished up the weekend for us and they were really good,” she said.

“I would recommend if anyone has an event coming up to book them… they put on a good show. The lead singer even did some crowd surfing.”

Scott Manery and the Barnburners and The Jessika Rabbit Band also performed on the Gala Days stage last weekend.

There was plenty for the kids to do all weekend as well.

“The penny table did really well… every time I went by, there were people in line,” Johnson said.

“Beebo is always a really big hit with the kids. It was a really good show for them.”

The baseball tournament and home run derby were also deemed a success.

“This year we advertised it a little bit more and we had 18 people entered,” Johnson said about the derby.

“We had a couple of announcers who were really funny.”

Johnson said she wanted to thank all of the volunteers and the community overall for supporting the event.

“We all worked really hard to put this together and this year to have the best turnout was really good,” she said.

“I can’t say enough about the community. To be such a small place and have so many people show up. It was really awesome.”
