Leita Joyce Johnson, a resident of Walpole Island First Nation, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the age of 85.
Leita is the daughter of the late Wilfred & Ceceilia (White) Lallean. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Everette Johnson. Loving mother of Glenda Johnson, Sherry Johnson, Bonny Tooshkenig (Paul), Darren Johnson (Nahanne), Melanie Johnson (Nevada), Casey Kiyoshk and the late Ronald Kicknosway and Conrad and Douglas Johnson Jr. Dear grandmother of 30 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Sister of Ellis Sands, Charlene Stein and the late Wilfred, Wilma and Della.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Leita’s home, 399 Austin Road, Walpole Island (at Chief’s Rd) on Friday. The funeral will be held at the Evangelistic Centre on Dan Shab Road, Walpole Island on Saturday, August 12 at 2 PM. Interment to follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
