Tragedy struck at Erieau Marina on Monday night.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say at about 10 p.m. on Monday, August 14, police, fire, and paramedics attended the Erieau Marina in response to a male falling off a docked boat into the water.
“It appears the man struck his head on the side of the boat and did not resurface,” stated Mike Domony
staff sergeant, in a press release.
“Chatham-Kent Fire divers entered the water and located the man. A 57-year-old man from London, Ontario was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Domony said the investigation was turned over to the Office of the Coroner.
“The Chatham-Kent Police would like to extend our sincere thoughts and prayers to the family at this time of tragedy,” Domony said.
“We will not be releasing the name of the party involved.”
