Paranormal event was a hit in Wallaceburg, more planned

Organizers of a recent ‘paranormal’ event in Wallaceburg are thrilled with the outcome. In fact, Wallaceburg’s Rob and Deb Simpson are planning another event at the Wallaceburg Museum in the fall.

“It was the biggest crowd we have ever had,” Rob told the Sydenham Current about their ‘Take a Walk on the Spirit Side‘ event at the end of July.

“Everybody was floored. We gave a donation of over $200 to the Museum because we did that as a fundraiser for them. So we had 43 people donate.”

Rob said they had some people down from Mystic Minds in Sarnia, where they have been doing an active investigation the last few months.

“They got to speak. We put on a show where we showed the equipment, we showed photos of things like orbs, we talked about the type of hauntings,” he said.

“We have electronic voice phenomena from our tape recorders and we have videos of things we have captured. That is always a crowd pleaser. We have some stuff that even the ones on TV actually went ‘oh wow, I have never seen anything that clear’.”

Rob said his wife and him have been interested in paranormal activity since they were kids.

“The paranormal picks you, you don’t pick the paranormal,” he said.

“Deb started at a young age, around nine. My first thing that I could really remember would be Grade 9. As a husband and wife, we have been married since 2010 and on Water Street (in Wallaceburg) is the old grave yard. We have a very active house. So we get to test our equipment here at home before we test it anywhere else. There are neighbours that report activities. There is other neighbours that don’t even want to mention it.”

Rob said Wallaceburg is a hotbed for paranormal activity

“Absolutely,” he said.

“God Bless the Museum. They let us go in the year before last after hours to do a haunt. We had some great stuff. We had interactions and intelligent hauntings. Up in the theatre is just awesome. We were setting up the theatre (for the event) and the guy that was helping me said ‘there is people walking on the stage’ but there was nobody there. We heard a voice. We were the only two up there. There was nobody and it was almost closing time, so it was very active.”

Rob said they currently have four or five active places in Wallaceburg.

“As fast as we can get to places, we get to them,” he said.

“We don’t go once. We go back three and four times. It’s like when you meet a person at first you have got the guard up and then as you meet them and get use to them, you let your guard down and you interact with them. Spirits are the same way. I mean they were alive at one point.”

Rob said they are looking at doing another lecture in the fall at the Museum.

“It’s one of the great things. During lectures I have had my Mel Meter go off and I stop mid word,” he said.

“The Mel Meter is a multiple device. It measures electrical and magnetic fields. The theory is that ghosts generate them. My main one has a shadow detection apparatus. They have build in rempods where it lights up. It’s all the stuff you see on TV. It can measure and detect temperatures because sometimes the temperature just drops like a stone.”

Rob said Deb and him have traveled to Amherstburg, Sarnia and Goderich in Ontario, along with trip across the border in Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky.

They have done lectures for ElderCollege at the University of Windsor and will be doing more lectures in the new year.

The Simpson’s will be in Sarnia on Thursday, August 17 providing a lecture at Mystic Minds.

“We are going to talk about what we encountered there and how we had to cleanse the place of a very nasty spirit,” he said.

Mystic Minds is located at 234 Front St. N. in Sarnia.

Tickets are $10 and the show starts at 8 p.m..

Rob said they will do investigations locally at no cost.

“When we investigate, we investigate for free,” he said.

“All we ask is that if we get something, can we use this at a future lecture. We are known as RoDe’s Investigative Paranormal Insight Team, RIPIT for short. RoDe’s is the first two initials of our names. We do ghost hunting, lectures, and paranormal investigations. We always tell people, keep and open mind. What you think is just your imagination may not be.”

The Simpson’s can be reached at 519-401-6020 or ripit2014@yahoo.ca.
