WAMBO 29 is in the books

The 29th annual Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boat Outing is in the books.

After starting off the annual festivities with a tornado watch and subsequent downpour, WAMBO weekend still saw thousands of people from the community and outside of Wallaceburg attending the downtown core.

The Terry Glover Memorial Cruise was held on Friday evening, with over 100 cars taking part, travelling through Wallaceburg, before heading along the St. Clair Parkway to Sombra and back.

Many of the cars came back on Saturday for the annual car show, which was located on James Street in downtown Wallaceburg.

Vendors, karaoke and other displays filled the downtown core on Saturday as well.

Kid’s activities, the soap box derby, activities at the Wallaceburg Museum, fire truck display, a 50’s and 60’s show and more vendors filled out the south-side events on Saturday as well.

The annual Cardboard Boat Races drew an impressive crowd, as always, to the shores of the Sydenham River.

Meghan Donkers was the winner of the annual K of C 50/50 draw. She won $10,320. The local group also ran a successful chicken dinner on Friday night and a breakfast on Saturday morning.

The Jessika Rabbit Band provided entertainment on Friday night, while Powerhouse was on stage on Saturday.

The refreshment tent was busy all weekend, and the tent filled up on Sunday morning as well for the Interdenominational Church Service and barbecue with MPP Monte McNaughton and MP Bev Shipley.

Organizers with WAMBO are thankful for the continued support in the community, from the sponsors, volunteers and the community overall.

The WAMBO board is looking forward to next year and is already working on plans for a milestone next year in 2018, with WAMBO 30.
