402 closed at Hwy. 40 after transport crash

Highway 402 is closed at Highway 40 in Sarnia after a crash involving three tractor trailers.

Police officials say on Sunday August 20th, 2017 at approximately 5:30 p.m. the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a multi-vehicle, commercial motor vehicle collision on Highway 402 WB in Sarnia.

Lambton OPP along with Lambton Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Sarnia Fire Department attended in the area of Highway 402 WB, east of Indian Road, City of Sarnia involving a multiple commercial motor vehicles collision.

Upon arrival, emergency responders observed severe damage to the involved tractor trailers however only minor injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

As a result, Highway 402 WB at Highway 40 will be closed for an undetermined period of time to allow for the recovery and cleanup of the highway.

Motorists are reminded to exercise patience and are asked to avoid the area while emergency crews work to re-open the highway.

Further information will be released as it becomes available and the investigation has been completed.
