Severe thunderstorm watch ends

Update: The thunderstorm watch has ended in Chatham-Kent.

Original story: Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Chatham-Kent.

Forecasters say conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

Environment Canada officials say thunderstorms will develop this afternoon and continue into this evening.

Rainfall amounts of 25 to 50 mm will be possible with some of these thunderstorms.

Areas that receive multiple thunderstorms could see even higher amounts.

Portions of these regions received significant rainfall amounts Monday evening.

These areas are more vulnerable to additional rainfall today.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.

Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.
