Baby powder poured into victim’s mouth

A Blenheim man faces a list of charges after a domestic incident on the weekend.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on September 4 at around 1 a.m. a man and a woman he has been in a relationship with were inside their residence in Blenheim when they began to argue.

The argument escalated and the man allegedly started hitting the woman up and down her body.

When she began to cry, police allege the man poured baby powder into her mouth in an attempt to quiet her.

Later that same day, around 3 p.m. while inside their residence, the man allegedly pushed the woman.

She exited the residence and called police.

When an officer arrived, she told him what had happened on that day.

Police say the woman had a bump on her head and bruising on her body, which was visible to the officer.

In addition, she disclosed other domestic-related incidents that occurred throughout the summer months.

As a result of the investigation, a 24-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Assault x 8

– Assault with a weapon x 5

– Assault causing bodily harm

– Forcible confinement

– Mischief under $5.000

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
