Over $10,000 raised during ‘Sunflower Special’

The results are in after last week’s ‘Sunflower Special’ held at Westbrook’s Flower Shoppe in Wallaceburg, in support of two Wallaceburg girls.

A total of $10,882 was raised for the families of Olivia Formosa and Preslie Hensel.

The figure will be split in half, with $5,441 going to both families.

“It was much better than expected,” Eleena deBakker, manager of the shop, told the Sydenham Current.

The Westbrook’s crew was selling arrangements of sunflowers and other bouquets for $10 a piece, with all the proceeds going towards the two families.

Olivia was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour that is grade 3.

She is set to undergo chemotherapy and will be traveling to the U.S for radiation treatments.

Preslie was put into a medically induced coma and has been on life support since Friday, August 11.
